Committees

 

Committees include:

Meeting Committee: Duties include planning of and making arrangements for Society meetings. This would include determining the site of the meeting, arranging for a meeting room, providing maps and other meeting materials, establishing the speakers and the order of the meeting and selecting a chairman for the meeting.

History Committee: Duties include looking into the history of peer review, and providing information to be posted on the website regarding major historical points in the history of peer review such as the passage of the HCQIA and Patrick v. Burgett, as well as other significant cases and legislation regarding peer review.

Legislative and Public Relations Committee: Duties include liaison with Congress, preparation of press releases for approval by the Board, arranging Congressional meetings, lobbying efforts, assisting in the writing of legislation for peer review, establishing contacts with other organizations having the same or similar goals, preparing resolutions to be approved by other professional organizations, and all other public relations activities.

Washington Contact Committee: Duties include maintaining contact with Washington, DC officials and government agencies as well as assisting in activities in the capital in coordination with the Legislative and Public Relations Committee.

Application Committee: This committee was designated to establish an application form and keep it current.

Bylaws and Editing Committee: This committee keeps the Bylaws updated and edits official Society documents.

Doctors Against Tenure Abuse (Ad Hoc Committee): This committee is chaired by George Holmes, PhD.  Members include Marty Smith, MD and Carol Bernstein, PhD.
